I recognize by broaching this subject, I expose the safe space of our weekly conversations to a minefield of hypersensitive issues: Sex trafficking, Scandalous innuendo, Cancellation by Association. I intend to navigate these treacherous waters by directing our consideration not on the salacious content of the story, but on the elite status of the diverse range of the people implicated in this ruinous scandal.

What does this reveal about the elite class?

All of us have heroes who were implicated.

Celebrity elite from royalty [Prince Andrew] to politicians [Presidents Clinton and Trump] to spiritual leaders [Dalai Lama] to academics [Noam Chomsky] to technologists [Peter Thiel] to legal scholars [Alan Dershowitz] to business tycoons [Sergey Brin] to entertainers [David Copperfield].

The issue is not limited to specific illicit acts but includes the knowing, ongoing support of these activities. The extreme nature of the activities leaves no room for doubt what any decent human being would do if they became aware these things were going on. Yet the Elite class said nothing, did nothing, and in many cases actively defended, rationalized or outright denied the activities in question.
